AHB Advisor, scholar-activist Paul Longmore, passed away on August 9, 2010. The history department at San Francisco State University where Paul was a tenured professor began a petition in his honor that seeks to further the work he began as a disability rights activist. We, the undersigned, urge that the Social Security Act be further modified to allow people with disabilities to accept scholarships and fellowships without endangering their eligibility to receive life-support payments through S.S.I. We present this petition to honor the legacy of Professor Paul K. Longmore, whose efforts led to the enactment of the “Longmore Amendment” to the S.S.A.
